PRODUCER, WRITER, CREATOR
Depending on the style of television show I work on, I may write original script material or I might piece together filmed interviews or vérité to tell a clear, concise, and cohesive story. All scripting is collaborative and goes through a series of reviews internally and externally. However, these segments are ones I feel a special connection to.
These are three samples of cold open voiceover scripts that were read by the host, Ted Allen, for a few theme episodes of the cooking competition show "Chopped" on the Food Network.
For reality shows that don't have voiceover or narration, I will carefully choose bites and vérité moments that were filmed on set to tell a story. This is Chef Bri's story told throughout the episode from a July 2025 episode of "Chopped" honoring No Kid Hungry.
For a docu-reality program I collaborate on the writing of the narrator's voiceover, select interview bites that help drive the narrative, and help source visuals to support the story. I also do a great deal of research for this style of program. These are two samples from "The Mega-Brands that Built America" and "The Fast History Of: Walmart" for the History Channel.
"Brain Games" on National Geographic Channel is an interactive educational TV show that is meant to appeal to all ages. A great deal of research went into the psychology and games presented. At times, very complex concepts needed to be written in a way that someone as young as 5 could understand. Here is a sample of the episode summary of episode about "Logic" and a game based on "Curry's Paradox" or "The Missing Square Illusion" I pitched and led the scripting for.
This is one of my favorite cliffhanger moments from the Food Network competition series "Chopped". As a Story Producer in post-production, a big part of my job is combining interviews and vérité in a way that it pushes the story forward but also keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. This clip is from the "Hungry For Love" competition where Exes competed together for $50,000.
One of my favorite recent episodes featured four chef social media influencers. To create their bios, I interspersed snappy soundbites from their set interviews with some fun moments from their social media videos.
